Why Am I Running?

Dear Neighbors,

My name is Michael Howard, and I am reaching out to you as your Democratic candidate for Macomb County Commission District 12. My family has been part of the Warren-Center Line community for nearly 30 years, and I have witnessed firsthand the challenges and changes we've faced together.

After earning my degree from Truett-McConnell University in 2015, I felt a strong calling to return to Michigan, driven by a desire to make a positive impact on our community. As a husband, father of three, and small business owner, I fully understand the impact that elected officials can have on our everyday lives.

I've always believed in taking action and working hard. Following the devastating floods of 2014, I worked with SEND Network Disaster Relief to help restore our community damaged by these floods. Working to meet our neighborhood's diverse needs, I've partnered with several local churches and nonprofits to support our community through neighborhood block parties, and youth sports clinics. I helped provide fire prevention supplies to 2,000 families in our area. Currently, I serve on the boards of a non-profit focused on racial reconciliation and an adoption agency. I have been hosting monthly coffee hours to foster greater community engagement and have helped raise nearly $100,000 for various nonprofits. My life’s mission is to cultivate community and catalyze change, and I aim to bring that mission to the County Board of Commissioners.

Running for County Commissioner is more than just seeking a position for me; it's about guaranteeing your voice is heard when critical decisions are being made that affect us all. I'm committed to building a stronger, more equitable, accessible, and inclusive Macomb by focusing on key areas such as investing in our crumbling infrastructure, ensuring a balanced budget, advocating for greater community mental health care, and fighting veterans and residents with disabilities.

I'm asking for your vote not just for the sake of winning but for the chance to make a real difference in our community. Together, we can face the challenges ahead and work towards a brighter, more prosperous future for Macomb. Your support would mean the world to me. We are seeking 2,000 people to commit to voting for me as their next county commissioner. If we can count on your vote please visit www.VoteMichaelHoward.com/commit

Thank you for considering me as your choice for Macomb County Commission.

Together, we can pave a way for a more equitable, accessible, and inclusive Macomb. Together, we can move Macomb forward.
